IF YOUR GLUCOSE FROM THE FIRST STEP IS HIGH YOU WILL NEED TO COME BACK FOR A 3- HOUR GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST GTT Fasting Before the Test. This group is at increased risk for developing diabetes. An initial blood sugar is drawn and then the person is given a glucola bottle with a high amount of sugar in it 75 grams of glucose or 100. Normal blood values for a 75-gram oral glucose tolerance test used to check for type 2 diabetes. The 1-hour glucose challenge test or GCT measures the effect of a glucose solution on blood glucose levels. Greater than 200 mgdL is a sign of diabetes mellitus.
They said not to come for the repeat test on Thursday with an empty stomach.
This group is at increased risk for developing diabetes. You do not need to prepare or change your diet in any way. Your blood will be drawn 1 hour after you drink the glucose solution to check your glucose levels. You are asked to drink a liquid that contains glucose. I had to eat and be in to do my test within 1-2 hours. The phlebotomist and multiple others who had to come and watch me vomit asked me if I ate anything.
